Our December meeting is going to be truly special. We will be celebrating the Holidays together and ask everyone to dress in their most festive attire! This month’s lesson, by Neal Chin, goes over a picking pattern using 6/8 time. It may sound scary, but it’s surprisingly easy with a little bit of practice. Please enjoy this fun mini lesson, and practice it so you can try it out at Club! See you at our December 21 Club Meeting, 9AM (HAWAII TIME) at Windward Mall.

Don’t forget, our December 21st Club Meeting will have a special concert afterward that you won’t want to miss. It will also be live-streamed as well. The free concert will feature keiki from the Kapena School of Music followed by Danny Naipo, Bryan Tolentino, & Halehaku Seabury.

This month’s mini lesson goes over some Jazzy turn arounds we’ll be doing in Club. Neal does a great job going over some Jazzy Progression and walking through the chords. Don’t worry, the chords are fun and easy to play. You’ll have lots of chances to practice these during the meeting as well. Songs lead by Sarah Maisel & Halehaku Seabury. Craig Chee will also join, on stage, getting to jam with everyone instead of being behind the camera! Our theme for this month is Hapa Haole music. Most songs we will be doing are from the 20’s - 40’s, however, we have some songs that are newer that sound like they are from that era as well. It will be a fun meeting you won’t want to miss. See you at our November 16 Club Meeting, 9AM HAWAII TIME (11AM PACIFIC) at Windward Mall.

Our August meeting is going to be lead by Aldrine Guerrero & Aaron Nakamura. They sent over music sheets and have supplied tablature for certain parts of their songs. This lead us to create this “Reading Tablature” lesson, to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to join in the fun. Tablature is a great tool, especially if you do not know how to read music. It can give beginners the opportunity to try out picking patterns and also teach you where your notes are on the instrument, if it is combined with music notation. We hope you have fun learning about tablature and trying out some of the different ideas tabbed out in our August music sheets provided by Aldrine Guerrero & Aaron Nakamura. See you at our August 17 Club Meeting, 9AM (HAWAII TIME) at Windward Mall.
